Nieuwpoort is a fishing harbour and pleasurecraft port. It has an overwhelming seafood market with morning catches from the North Sea and a wealth of fresh fish and seafood restaurants. The old town has a market in the square on Thursday afternoons. There are several parks with tennis courts a sports hall swimming pool and mini golf.
